Ricardo Carvalho
Ricardo Carvalho was born on May 18, 1978. He is currently a player for the Real Madrid football team. His position is center back and his number is 2. Carvalho has had a very successful career. In his youth playing from 1990 to 1996 he was part of the Amarante FC team. He played for Porto just one year, in 1996 as a youth. Yet he quickly showed them that he was too good to stay there.
They put him in motion as a senior player until 2004. Ricardo Carvalho played on a variety of different teams over the years until recently joining the Real Madrid in 2010. Ricardo Carvalho believes it is an honor for him to be able to play on such a wonderful team. He has looked up to several of the players on this team so he feels he is in very good company.

Yet Ricardo Carvalho is also aware that he has his work cut out for him. He has to fill some very large shoes to show that he belongs as a starter on the Real Madrid team. This is a challenge though that he is more than willing to take on. The fact that he has had a great deal of success in the game both as a youth and a senior player shows that he will fit in very well with this organization.
In 2003 Ricardo Carvalho had his first International call up. The league title though was followed by a second one in 2004. That is also the year when he won his first UEFA Champions League title. During this tournament he was also recognized as the top defender playing in the tournament. This was a turning point in his career as it put him in the spotlight. It seemed like all of the teams wanted to see if he could play for them.
In 2007 Ricardo Carvalho had some set backs due to medical concerns. He suffered from torn ligaments. As a result he was unable to play in the semi final game for the Champions League against Liverpool that year.
It only got better for him from there with the win of two Premier League titles in 2005 and 2006. He also was a key component in his team winning the UEFA Championship in 2008. Ricardo Carvalho was very humbled by the voting of his colleagues that year to name him as the Players Player of the Year. Chelsea weren’t happy to see him go in 2010 to sign on with the Real Madrid.

Yet they knew it was a possibility as Real Madrid had shown an interest in him years before. Yet there were always some types of barriers with the negotiations that prevented such a union from materializing. Ricardo Carvalho had always said that he would love to be with Real Madrid due to his connection to manager Jose Mourinho.
Many people are very impressed with Ricardo Carvalho so far in his career. They are very excited for the 2010 to 2011 season. They want to see what the value of him will be for the Real Madrid team. They have loved what he has been able to show them so far.
The debut occurred August of 2010 for a 2 year contract. In just a few short months of 2010 Ricardo Carvalho proved that this was a very good fit for him in terms of being part of the Real Madrid organization. As long as he stays healthy there is a very good chance that this team is only getting better and better due to the quality of amazing players such as Ricardo Carvalho.
