Esteban Granero
Esteban Granero
Esteban Granero was born on July 02, 1987. He is one of the most well known players for the Real Madrid football team. His role is as a midfielder but he also is a great playmaker and striker as well. The fact that he can play all of these positions so well makes him an invaluable player that has been underestimated in the past.
Today he seems to be getting the recognition that he deserves for his abilities though. Many of the rival teams even get nervous with him as an opponent. That is because they just don’t know what the outcome is going to be when they face Esteban Granero on the field as he is unpredictable.
Youth Esteban Granero
The Real Madrid is the place that he has always wanted to be. He joined the youth aspect of the team when he was only 8 years old. By 1999 he was the captain of his team and went on to help them win a youth title. In fact, he was credited with the winning goal that helped to defeat FC Barcelona. With that in mind it is really no surprise to learn he was also named Player of the Game.
When he was 17 he was part of the team that won the Copa de Campeones. This is a tournament that is sponsored by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. He won the award for Most Valuable Player at this tournament. In 2006 he was able to join the ranks of Castilla.
Even though he was promising he didn’t get a starting position though. This was quite a disappointment for Esteban Granero. Yet it also encouraged him to stay focused and to work even harder than he had before for the love of the football game he so much wanted to be part of. By 2008 though he had returned to Real Madrid and by 2009 they had fully exercised their buy back option to keep him.
Esteban Granero a Growing Career
In September of 2009 Esteban Granero he got the chance to be a starter for Real Madrid. A dream come true for him that had been in his mind since he was a very young boy. Throughout the season though he was moved back and forth from the bench to the starting position. By the 2010 and 2011 season though he had been bypassed for the starting roles. Now he mainly plays for Real Madrid as a substitute.
Yet when he does play he does very well for them. Case in point – in a game in January 2011 he was able to score the winning goal of the game. He continues to fight for a start again. He is up against some amazing players though including Sami Khedira and Mesut Ozil. While he isn’t fond of being on the bench, he strives to support what the coach feels the Real Madrid team needs at any given point in time.
Esteban Granero is already telling the rest of his team that if they want a shot at the title they have to stop giving up points. It is no wonder he is a great leader as he tells them all like it is. Yet he also takes the lead to offer support, encouragement, and to set prime examples. Many say that there isn’t a player on the Real Madrid team that is as dedicated as Esteban Granero.
His dedication to his own performance as well as that of his team have him pegged as a natural leader. The coaching staff for Real Madrid often point out that he has taken new players under his wing. He is tough but he is compassionate as well and it really works in the game of football.
