Angel di Maria was born February 14, 1988. He is a winger for the Real Madrid football team. He also holds that position for the Argentina National Football Team. His nickname is Fideo which is the Spanish word for noodle. The professional career for this amazing player started in 2005. He was a player for Rosario Central.
In 2007 he was offered contract by the Russian Premiere League. Angel di Maria initially accepted the offer but then he started to second guess that decision. He decided to completely turn it down. Instead he stayed right where he was at and that seemed in the long run to really seal his fate as a great player in this league.
Angel Di Maria Early Years
Angel di Maria played in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup for Argentina. There were quite a few teams that saw his impressive performance and wanted to sign him. The decision he made was to go with Benfica in July of 2007. Angel di Maria was transferred to the Portuguese side of things at that time.
Even though he was coming in to replace a great individual and team captain for Benfica, there didn’t seem to be any stress that he couldn’t handle. Angel di Maria was a natural in terms of getting along with players, coaches, and being one that the fans loved in all senses of the word. He was doing very well in this position and it didn’t take long for him to become a star of the games that he participated in.
Angel di Maria was also capped in 2007 for the South American Youth Championship to be played in Paraguay. He was also asked to play in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Not only was he on the winning team but di María scored three goals in this game which significantly assisted with that victory occurring.
On January 2008 he had the honor of being on the team that was going to Beijing to be in the Olympics. The game went into an extra inning due to a tie and it was Angel di Maria that scored the winning goal for the game.
Angel Di Maria in the Real Madrid
In June of 2010 Real Madrid announced that they had signed a contract with Angel di Maria. The contract is for a period of 5 years. Not only did the team pay him a very generous salary but they also had to pay a very large sum of money to get Benfica to release Angel di Maria from the contract he was under with them.
Angel di Maria played his first game with them in August of 2010 and the opponent was Club America. His team won and the next game that they played he was credited with his first goal for the team. He has made numerous goals since then and has also been credited with assisting other players with the goals that they have completed as well.
Many believe that Angel di Maria is a young player that has a huge career still to come. They feel his ability to get along well with others, amazing talent on the field, and dedication to the team he is on says a great deal about his overall character. The coaching staff of Real Madrid is very happy with him and plan to keep him as long as they can.
Many believe that the 5 year contract that he signed with Real Madrid is the just the beginning. As long as he stays healthy there is no reason to doubt that they won’t extend another contract to him when that one ends. The fan base for Angel di Maria continues to grow as well and you will see many fans at the games wearing his number to offer support and encouragement.
